Why read this?

In response to the world changes in media, communication, culture, attitudes - in other words, now that we are a fifth of the way into the 21st century - and noticing that social behaviors seem to be shifting from a hoped-for evolution down into a frenzied ignorance, I felt that I needed to add one more voice in opposition to that trend.

While it may seem futile to add “one more voice” shouting into the chasm, it would be irresponsible not to write, advocate, organize, and evangelize a better way to a better world. Yes, I suppose for the sake of the proverbial "children and my children's children."

I bring a unique perspective to the discussion of these issues, based on decades of involvement in technology, the arts, and scientific/academic projects. My guiding principle is Occam’s Razor - too often, issues become overly complicated by innumerable stakeholders just adding noise. If we can cut through to basics, first principles, and structural foundations of issues then positions and solutions are much easier to find.

There is much to be done. Let’s shine a light together.

Tyranny, like Hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.
